Christian Brands IHS Gothic Chasubles, Set of Four
A set of four Gothic-cut chasubles with an IHS design, part number G4052, sold together rather than one color at a time.
The chasuble is the outer vestment a priest wears at Mass over the alb and stole. Products here differ mainly by cut. The Gothic chasuble is full and drapes to the wrist; the Roman or fiddleback cut is stiff and narrow; the monastic cut is fuller still. Most are polyester or brocade, some lined and some not. Ornament ranges from plain fabric to embroidered IHS panels. Chasubles are sold singly in one liturgical color, with a matching stole, or as a set of four.
A parish normally needs white, green, red and purple, with rose and gold as optional additions. The Christian Brands four-chasuble set covers the basics for a new chapel. For a single replacement, choose by color and cut. The Vestments and Chasubles Gothic styles come with a stole and are made to order, with a four to six week lead time. The Autom Roman set includes the accessories used with the fiddleback form. Check length against the celebrant's height before ordering.
Six chasubles and sets are listed below, from a chasuble-and-stole pair to a made-to-order gold brocade Gothic vestment.

White for Christmas, Easter, feasts of the Lord and most saints; green for Ordinary Time; purple for Advent and Lent; red for Pentecost, Passion Sunday and martyrs. Rose is used two Sundays a year, and gold may replace white on solemnities. A four-color set covers most of the year.
A Gothic chasuble is wide and falls over the arms, often with a plain or embroidered central panel. A Roman or fiddleback chasuble is cut away at the shoulders so the arms are free, and is usually stiffened and ornamented. Both are approved for Mass.
Most chasubles are one size. Makers quote length from the shoulder and width across the arms, for example 130 by 154 centimeters. A shorter priest may want a length nearer 120 centimeters so the hem clears the ground when he kneels. Check the measurements rather than the size name.
Most polyester chasubles with embroidery should be dry cleaned or spot cleaned, especially if lined. Brocade and gold thread should never be machine washed. Hang vestments on wide hangers in a closed wardrobe between uses and air them after a long celebration.
